The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) celebrated International Interior Design Day on Saturday, May 23, 2020. Students and faculty from the Interior Design programs at the Universidad ORT Uruguay School of Architecture joined in the celebration.

In a context marked by social distancing, professionals, amateurs, students, and enthusiasts of interior design came together through digital media to celebrate the value of this important discipline, which is attracting more and more people in Uruguay and around the world.

Every year, the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) organizes activities around this day and assigns it a specific theme. This year’s theme was “Nexus Interiors,” reflecting designers’ ability to connect, draw inspiration, experiment, and plan activities that showcase and highlight their work and the great value of the discipline.

Among the goals the IFI has set for this day are:

“To explore the relationships that shape our interior spaces; to identify new connections and understand the broader network of influence that interiors exert; and to seek new opportunities for positive impact through architecture and interior design.”

The federation invites all interior design enthusiasts to explore the connections between their networks, relationships, and more—whether within their own spaces, communities, or on an international scale—through the lens of "Nexus Interiors."
