Scratch Game Workshop

On Thursday, April 25, 2013, the Faculty of Engineering hosted the Scratch Game Workshop as part of the celebration of , which aims to promote the participation of girls and young women in technology-related fields. This workshop, led by Dr. Inés Kereki, Professor of Programming at the faculty, was aimed at 30 first- and second-year high school students from the José Pedro Varela National High School. The activity was organized by Plan Ceibal, Espacio Ciencia, GreenTizen, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) WIE (Women in Engineering), and Universidad ORT Uruguay.

Prior to the workshop, a presentation was given by Martha Cambre, Director of Espacio Ciencia at LATU (Uruguayan Technology Laboratory).

Program of activities for International Girls in ICT Day:

Activity I
TIME: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - LOCATION: Espacio Ciencia
1. Robotics Workshop (30 minutes) - Organized by: Plan Ceibal.
2. Motivational Talk (up to 30 minutes) - Dr. Patricia Corbo and Victoria Alonsoperez.
3. Visit to the eScientia module (30 minutes).
4. Certificate presentation.

Activity II
TIME: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM - LOCATION: Universidad ORT Uruguay
1. Introductory/motivational talk - Martha Cambre.
2. Scratch games workshop.
3. Certificate presentation.
