Julio Fernández will represent ORT at a new technology center

Julio Fernández, ORT’s Dean of Academic Development, will represent Uruguay’s private universities at the Academic Center for Information Technology.

The Academic Center for Information Technology (CAITI) seeks to promote collaboration between local software companies and academia to foster sustainable growth in the sector.

CAITI's board of directors consists of a representative from the executive branch, a representative from the University of the Republic, a representative from private universities, two representatives from the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology, and a representative from the UNDP.

CAITI is currently engaged in the following activities:

  • A software development project involving collaboration between academia and industry;
  • Promotion and coordination of activities to develop a multisectoral project at the national level;
  • Collaboration between industry and academia to develop commercial applications based on the new technologies provided by ANTEL.

CAITI has published a database containing information on academic groups in the sector that are interested in collaborating with companies.
