Fernando Paganini, associate dean for research at the School of Engineering, who served as one of the three coordinators of the GACH alongside Drs. Rafael Radi and Henry Cohen, received a model of the Gómez Palace in recognition of his commitment to the community.
Dr. Andrés Ferragut, an associate professor of Networks in the department, who helped coordinate that area and served on the Mobility and Apps subgroup as well as the Models and Projections subgroup, also received that distinction.
The event took place on September 18, 2022, in the Zavala Muniz Hall of the Solís Theater, and was attended by national and departmental officials.
At the event, Dr. Radi highlighted the renewed appreciation for science in the context of the pandemic, the unprecedented public support for his work, and the rise in interest in scientific careers, as well as his engagement with Uruguay’s political landscape and the independence he enjoyed in carrying out his work.
GACH served in an advisory capacity to the national government from April 16, 2020, to June 16, 2021.
