Two researchers from the School of Management and Social Sciences at Universidad ORT Uruguay, Dr. (cand.) Virginia Delisante and Alejandra Tagliani, M.A., conducted case studies for the RIESAL Project, an institutional strengthening program that carries out training initiatives, case studies, and outreach activities among universities in Latin America and the Caribbean to promote their internationalization processes.
In the chapters “Internationalization of Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean: Uruguay” and “Best Practices in the Internationalization of Higher Education in Uruguay: Student Academic Mobility,” the scholars provided an in-depth analysis of higher education in Uruguay.
For their part, Julio Fernández, Vice Rector of Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Dr. Laura Diaz Arnesto, the university’s Academic Projects Coordinator, authored the chapter “Managing Institutional International Outreach: The Model Adopted by Universidad ORT Uruguay, a Privately Administered University.”
These texts are part of the books The International Dimension of Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (published), Best Practices in University Internationalization in Latin America and the Caribbean (published) and A Guide to the Fundamentals of University Internationalization Management in Latin America and the Caribbean (forthcoming), respectively.
All of the studies focus on identifying the key characteristics and best practices of internationalization and international cooperation processes at universities in Latin America. The publications are open access, available in Spanish and English, and can be consulted in print at our university library or in digital format on the project’s website.
Since early 2017, Universidad ORT Uruguay as a full partner in the RIESAL Project alongside the University of the Republic, representing our country.
In its final phase, the project aims to establish a Regional Network for the Internationalization of Higher Education in Latin America, known as the RIESAL Network, which will be open to other key stakeholders in the Latin American university system. Its mission is to strengthen cooperation among universities in Latin America and the Caribbean in all aspects related to the internationalization of higher education.
