Community Stories: Launch of a Photography Contest at Universidad ORT Uruguay

On June 5, the launch of the "Stories of Community Life" contest, organized by various Jewish communities, took place in the auditorium of ORT's Downtown Campus.

This contest is part of an inter-community project aimed at creating an image bank of Uruguayan Jewish collective memory.

has contest is sponsored by : the Israeli Community of Uruguay, the Sephardic Israeli Community of Uruguay, the Hungarian Israeli Community of Uruguay, the New Israeli Congregation of Montevideo, and the Central Israeli Committee of Uruguay.

The contest is open to all residents of Uruguay, and participants may enter individually or as a group. 

The proposed themes for the photography project include: Jewish immigration, the evolution of community institutions, the synagogues of Montevideo, the Jewish cemetery in the city of La Paz, Jewish education through the ages, family life, holidays, celebrations, youth groups, charitable initiatives, and the 60th anniversary of ORT in Uruguay.

The rules and regulations can be picked up at the Jewish Community of Uruguay, Canelones 1084, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The deadline for submitting entries is Thursday, July 31, and the results will be announced on Monday, August 18.
