From Concept to Reality: The infoUYclei2002 Computer Science Conference

The infoUYclei2002 Computer Science Conference will take place in Uruguay from November 25 to 29; the conference was officially announced on Wednesday, October 23.

The event is jointly organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI), the University of the Republic, the Autonomous University of the South, and the Universidad ORT Uruguay.

CLEI is the Latin American Conference on Computer Science Studies, established 28 years ago.

It comprises more than 60 universities and/or research institutions in Latin America.

Its main activity is the annual traveling computer science conference, which is hosted in different member countries; depending on the country, this is complemented by the most important national events in the field of computer science.

Patricia Corbo, an engineer and academic secretary of the School of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay, has served as executive secretary of CLEI since 2000.

On September 30, the selected projects were announced, three of which were from Universidad ORT Uruguay:

  1. An Study on Measuring Quality-Related Costs in Software Production, by Amalia Alvarez, B.A., Ana Esteves, M.S.E., and Mariana Lasarte, M.S.E.;
  2. Algorithm for Calculating the Value of User Sessions to Evaluate a Website's Performance, by Prof. Esther Hochsztain, Ernestina Menasalvas, and Socorro Millán;
  3. Software Engineering and Consumer Protection Laws in Mercosur, by Mariel Feder and Dora Szafir.
