On August 21, 2014, the Faculty of Communication and Design hosted a lecture titled “The Experience of Mr. Kaplan,” presented by the film’s director, Álvaro Brechner. The speaker discussed the creative process behind this recently released feature film.

Filmmaker Álvaro Brechner has directed documentaries that have aired on Canal Odisea, the History Channel, and Televisión Española. In 2009, he produced and directed his first feature film, *A Bad Day for Fishing*.

Synopsis of *Mr. Kaplan*:

"Angry about his old age and bored with his monotonous life, Jacobo Kaplan is overcome by the anguish of forgetting."

A beachside inn will give him one last, unexpected chance to embark on an epic and extraordinary adventure: the owner, a solitary German veteran, is suspected of being a Nazi fugitive.

"Behind the scenes, Kaplan enlists the help of Wilson Contreras, a former police officer who is more loyal than honest. Together, they set out to expose the German and bring him to justice in a wild and quixotic investigation."
