The presentation was given by Argentine journalist Migue Roth, communications advisor for the Agency for Development and Relief Resources (ADRA).
Roth presented case studies on the dissemination of data and images related to humanitarian responses to emergencies and social issues, and offered guidelines for covering complex stories, as well as precautions to avoid falling prey to sensationalism and the pressure of immediacy.

The journalist also discussed the basic principles of humanitarian action at the international level, what “humanitarian pornography” is, how to identify it, and how to avoid becoming part of it.
Even the most experienced journalists struggle when it comes to covering complex and sensitive topics, such as disasters—which attract fleeting attention—or neglected diseases.
