On April 13, 2018, theFaculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted the lecture “Disruptive Technologies Applied to Marketing,” presented by Joan Cwaik, Marketing Manager for Latin America at Maytronics, a technology innovator, professor, and renowned international speaker. This was the first event in the Living Marketing series, organized by the faculty’s Marketing Department.
The speaker discussed three major areas of technology—robotics and artificial intelligence, augmented virtual reality, and 3D printing—and then went on to explore the disruptive trends of the coming years: telemedicine, wearable computing, radical life extension, Money 2.0, the maker movement , smart cities, smart homes, and Automation 2.0, among other topics.
The talk featured remarks by Dr. Teresa Cometto, professor of marketing at Universidad ORT Uruguay director of marketing, market research, and media at Unilever, and Eduardo Mangarelli, director of technology at Microsoft Latin America and a graduate in systems engineering.
Cwaik is considered one of the leading voices in disruptive technologies in Latin America. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Media and Entertainment Management from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE) and a master’s degree in Multimedia Convergence from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is the director of the UADE Foundation’s Center for Technology Outreach. He is a technology columnist for La Nación, Infobae, C5N, and FM Rock and Pop. He was recognized by Forbes Argentina as one of the most influential young people under 30 in Argentina in 2017 and was nominated by Apertura Magazine as one of Argentina’s most influential technology entrepreneurs in 2015.
