Interview conducted as part of a series of interviews with visiting professors in the graduate programs at the Institute of Education.

Inés Aguerrondo currently teaches the course “Strategic Planning in Educational Management” as part of the Master’s Program in Educational Management at the Institute of Education of Universidad ORT Uruguay.

The interview focuses on the topic of educational reforms in Latin America, with an emphasis on the current characteristics of the Ministries of Education in Latin America and on the process of implementing and managing reforms.

Aguerrondo examines the tools available to the state education sector for managing reforms and innovations.

Professionalization, digitization, and revising regulations are three measures the interviewee would take to improve education, along with declaring educational services essential.

As the interview draws to a close, the call is for dialogue and reflection: “What is said about the reforms has an impact on the reforms.”
