Honorable mentions for final projects in the Engineering Thesis Competition

Two final projects by Systems Engineering graduates received an honorable mention in the Engineering Final Projects Competition, organized by the Uruguayan Engineers Association.

Members of the Gandor project who received an honorable mention

The Systems Engineering senior thesis, “Machine Learning Model for the Detection and Identification of Holstein Cows in Uruguay,” authored by Chia Hung Hsieh and Joselén Cecilia Román and supervised by Mikaela Pisani, received an honorable mention in the Engineering Senior Thesis Competition.

The Systems Engineering project“Defying Loans,carried out by Florencia Ojeda, Darío Wisznewer, and Fabian Levinsky and supervised by Professor Álvaro Ortas, also received an honorable mention.

The project involves developing an application that, through a marketplace, enables users to grant loans to individuals by using an NFT as collateral. NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are digital assets certified using blockchain technology. This project was previously awarded the prize for best undergraduate thesis in Systems Engineering by the National Academy of Engineering last November.

This competition was organized by the Uruguayan Association of Engineers as part of World Engineering Day, an initiative of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).
