Mercedes Estramil Honored at the International Festival of Rural Culture

Mercedes Estramil, a writer and professor at the School of Communication, was honored at the 2024 International Festival of Rural Culture (FICC) in Colombia, where she shared her wisdom.

Mercedes Estramil isa writer and professor in the Writing Department of the School of Communication at Universidad ORT Uruguay. 

He received an award at the 2024 International Festival of Rural Culture(FICC), held on November 9 in Tunja, Boyacá, Colombia.

At the event “A Retrospective of the Work of Mercedes Estramil,” the writer was honored for her outstanding literary achievements and her contribution to a form of fiction that deeply connects with the identity and roots of communities.   

Invited as an international guest speaker, Estramil actively participated in the #ModoFICC initiative, where she shared her experience with students at the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia.

Creativity took center stage during her writing workshop, which explored the power of literature to transcend borders and invited participants to explore the ways in which stories are woven through characters. 

The event served as a forum to honor rural culture and continue to strengthen ties between various artistic and literary expressions.  

From Uruguay, Mercedes Estramil continued to serve as an ambassador for the literary legacy, leaving an indelible impression on the audience.
