During a morning event held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., students were able to participate in a variety of talks and activities that gave them insight into what different degree programs entail and helped them decide on their future career paths.
The event was geared toward 11th and 12th-grade students and provided young people with access to key information and experiences to help them understand what university life is like, what educational options are available, and what opportunities and challenges each one presents.
At the Downtown Campus, home to the School of Engineering, students were able to interact with a robotic arm and a Bioloid humanoid robot, learn how electricity is generated from renewable energy sources, and explore augmented reality and virtual reality applications.
Likewise, at the School of Communication and Design, they had the opportunity to record a music video featuring live performances by Nacho Obes and Spuntone y Mendaro on the television set, as well as conduct interviews in the radio studio and view exhibitions of student work from the six bachelor’s degree programs in Design, including the new Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Art, and Technology, which will begin in March 2018.
Meanwhile, at the Pocitos Campus, home to the School of Business and Social Sciences and the School of Architecture, high school students participated in talks led by academic coordinators, faculty members, and alumni.
Also present there was Florencia Gubba, director of Gubba Health & Soul Coaching and a 2006 graduate of the School of Business and Social Sciences, who delivered the lecture “Take Charge!” to all participants.
Additionally, Federica Abella, director of Soyvos, and Dr. Magdalena Pereira, partner at Youhub Cowork, led an activity focused on team building and collaboration.
The School of Architecture welcomed the young visitors with guides who accompanied them on a tour to view student work exhibitions and explore all of the school’s facilities.
Throughout the morning, the high school students were able to visit informational booths about the various scholarships offered by the university, the services provided by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the different sports they can play at the university, opportunities for international exchange programs and studying abroad, and all the support provided by Universidad ORT Uruguay them secure the best jobs.
