More than 1,000 design projects across Recreation

February 23, 2024
Over the course of 17 editions of Proyecto Integrador, 1,050 projects were submitted on behalf of 846 actual companies. “We used to have to seek out companies and convince them of why (design) is important,” but today more companies apply than Recreación can handle.

In 2024, over the course of three days, 70 aspiring designers presented their projects to 65 companies. Once again, the School of Design welcomed students and their families to "Recreación," the final presentation of the Integrative Project course, which is part of the eighth semester of the Bachelor’s programs in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, andMultimedia Design.

In the final stage of their studies, the students presented prototypes, clothing designs, visual identity systems, and mobile apps based on the needs identified by the participating companies and institutions.

With this edition, Recreación has reached 1,050 design projects for a total of 846 companies.

“Every year we issue a call for applications, and the number of companies that apply far exceeds the capacity of our academic projects: we reached 192 companies in 2023, which means we now have to be selective. Before, we had to seek out companies and convince them of why this is important—because every company has design needs—but today it is the companies themselves who are seeking to participate.” This is how Daniel Domínguez, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, summarized this journey.

The projects

In Domínguez’s words, projects are becoming“more ambitious, more comprehensive, and more competitive.” This, in turn, reflects the needs of companies: design used to be just one factor to consider, but today it is “the competitive edge.”

Companies compete based on factors such as whether they have a strong visual identity, an online presence, and a social media presence, and whether their products are environmentally friendly, among other things. And these outcomes are the result of a design project and a design culture.

In addition, this year’s program included projects for Argentine companies. In previous years, students also worked with applicants from Argentina, Brazil, and even Finland.
