The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through its innovation lab, IDB Lab, launched the Silver Economy Challenge, an initiative aimed at identifying and supporting innovative solutions that enable the growing older adult population to become a driving force for social inclusion and economic recovery in Latin America and the Caribbean.

NudaProp, a graduate company of ORT’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), was one of nine startups selected for funding by IDB Lab. It was founded by Paula Bouzout, a certified public accountant and graduate of Universidad ORT Uruguay, along with Constanza Boix and Sofía Boix. It is a technology platform that facilitates the development of the market for property titles with reserved usufruct (bare ownership).

Their business model involves offering property owners a new way to sell—one that allows them to retain the right to use the property, either temporarily or for life, even after the sale has been completed—and providing buyers with a new way to invest in real estate—one that improves returns in the medium and long term.

The competition, which was launched in June 2021 and announced its winners on October 5, sought to identify business models offering innovative solutions for implementation in the areas of healthcare and long-term care, financial services and products, employment and training, and housing and transportation.
