The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Universidad ORT Uruguay among the top 25 in the region, according to the 2020 Latin American MBA Ranking published by América Economía magazine.

ORT's MBA program, which ranked 25th this year, has remained the only one from Uruguay in this ranking for more than 25 years.

In the 2020 edition, the ranking added the Return on Investment (ROI) metric, which measures the impact of pursuing an MBA on income growth following completion of the program and, consequently, the time it takes to recoup the investment made in the program. To this end, the ranking also takes into account job offers resulting from obtaining the degree, as well as changes in position or responsibilities within the company.

In this category, ORT’s MBA program stood out in the “Positive Mobility” indicator—which measures the extent to which the MBA program helped advance graduates’ professional careers—ranking 12th in the region.

The level of executive compensation in Uruguay is relatively low compared to the rest of the region; therefore, ranking among the highest in the region in terms of salary—a metric that compares the earnings of ORT MBA alumni with those of graduates from business schools in countries with higher executive salaries—is particularly significant.

In the metric that measures how a business school’s network of contacts and opportunities translates into job offers (called “Attracted by the Network”), the MBA program ranked 15th.

The ranking is based on an evaluation of five key areas of MBA programs and their respective business schools: Academic Strength (30%), Return on Investment (20%), Internationalization and Diversity (16%), Knowledge Production (14%), and Network Power (20%).

This year, the top three spots in the ranking are held by EAESP - Fundação Getulio Vargas, Adolfo Ibáñez University, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
