Qualia, a startup founded by Ximena Aleman, a student in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication, was selected from among 300 Latin American applicants to participate in the Startupbootcamp accelerator program in Mexico by specialized mentors and investors.
Aleman traveled to that country with support from the Zonamerica Innovation Fund (FIIZ), which was created through an initiative of the Graduate School of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences. With its product Prometeo, a platform of standardized banking apps that allows financial institutions to interoperate easily, the startup was one of the ten winners and, as such, gained access to a three-month acceleration program that began on August 20, 2018.
Startupbootcamp Fintech is a business accelerator that focuses on startups in the early stages of development and helps them grow within a limited timeframe. Three hundred companies from across Latin America applied to the program, of which 20 were shortlisted. These entrepreneurs compete over three days, hold meetings with partners and banks, and meet with more than 60 contacts, after which 10 companies are ultimately selected for the accelerator program.
Aleman, along with one of his partners, moved to Mexico City to take advantage of the opportunity for the accelerator to help them grow by working with financial institutions, where he receives formal mentoring on how to secure investments.
