During the event, the university set up a lounge to welcome attendees and organized activities led by representatives from the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), the School of Communication and Design, and the School of Engineering.
The latter organized an interactive workshop led by the Biotechnology Laboratory team, consisting of Carlos Sanguinetti, M.Sc., academic coordinator of Biotechnology; Dr. Rodrigo Achigar, laboratory coordinator; Mariana Umpiérrez, M.Sc., Mariana Umpiérrez, deputy coordinator of the Laboratory; María Pía Campot, deputy coordinator of the Biotechnology Laboratory; Felipe Machado and Sebastián Rodríguez, laboratory assistants; Valentina Duvós, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Biotechnology; and Sonali Correa, a research teaching assistant.
The workshop—titled “DNA: Your Best Witness. Be a Scientist and Solve a Crime”—invited participants to investigate a crime scene. To do so, they had to find clues and analyze them using tools commonly found in a biotechnology laboratory. In this case, they extracted DNA from the suspects and then compared the resulting molecular patterns to solve the case.
Furthermore, this marks the first time a biotechnology workshop has been held at a Campus Party anywhere in the world.
For his part, Fabián Barros, M.A., academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Art, and Technology at the School of Design within the Faculty of Communication and Design, led a theoretical and practical workshop titled “Introduction to Digital Arts with Processing” on March 15, which drew a large audience.
Finally, Enrique Topolansky, coordinator of the CIE, gave a presentation titled "First Steps in Entrepreneurship" on March 17.
