ORT at Campus Party 2023

Universidad ORT Uruguay participating in the 2023 edition of Campus Party Uruguay, considered the region’s premier event for technology, creativity, and innovation, which will take place on March 24 and 25 at the Punta del Este Convention Center.

We invite all event attendees to visit the university’s booth, which will feature games, activities, and a raffle for a folding bicycle.

With a wide range of talks, workshops, and competitions, the event promises to be an unforgettable experience for tech enthusiasts.

The following lectures are highlighted:

Generative Artificial Intelligence - March 24 – Main Stage, 11:50 a.m.

In this talk, Eduardo Mangarelli, dean of the School of Engineering, will discuss the significant impact that artificial intelligence is having on a wide range of industries and sectors—including medicine, manufacturing, music, art and entertainment, fashion, and advertising, among others—to improve efficiency and drive innovation.

What are the implications and opportunities for each of us?

AI AY! Art, Virtual Reality, and Artificial Intelligence - March 25 - Main Stage, 11:00 a.m.

A talk by Fabián Barros, M.A., academic coordinator of Design, Art, and Technology, and professor of Digital Arts and New Technologies at the School of Communication and Design. A digital artist, designer, creative director, and independent producer with extensive experience in the advertising industry and the creative field in general. He will address the rapid technological acceleration we are currently experiencing and how it affects the worlds of creativity, design, and art. Additionally, he will analyze new technologies and discuss the challenges and opportunities they present to creators.

Starting a Business at a Young Age – March 25 – 11:50 a.m.

After being selected in a contest on the Campus Party Instagram account (@campuspartyuy), Systems Engineering students Gonzalo Aszyn and Renzo Costanzo, co-founders of Viatik—a technology startup incubated by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) that aims to offer a convenient and sustainable solution for long-distance travel—will give a talk about their experience and offer advice to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Workshops

First Steps in Entrepreneurship - March 24 - 3:00–4:30 p.m., Workshop Area 3

Led by Ximena Scasso, M.A., coordinator of the Pre-Incubator at ORT’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE).

This workshop invites participants to reflect on the skills and qualities needed to start their own business. It also offers a series of exercises designed to develop these soft skills and begin cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset.

The Path to Sustainable Development – March 24 – 4:00–5:30 p.m., Hackathon Space

Led by Dr. Teresa Cometto, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Administration and the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Business, and professor of Marketing; Dr. Nicolás Gambetta, academic coordinator of the Graduate Programs in Accounting at the School of Administration and Social Sciences; and by Guillermina Frick, a faculty member in the School of Administration and Social Sciences and the School of Communication and Design at ORT.

The goal of the workshop is to provide an introduction to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through engaging group activities, participants will gain an understanding of the importance of the SDGs and learn how to contribute to them in a meaningful way. They will also learn about the potential consequences if these goals are not met by 2030.

User Experience (UX) for Innovators – March 25, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Workshop Space 3

Led by Valentina Raggio, Brand & UX Designer, and Gabriel Vasilev, UX/UI & Multimedia Designer, instructors in the professional development Program professional development UX and UI at ORT’s School of Communication and Design.

Electrical Engineering – Power Transformation – March 25 – 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Hackathon Space

Presented by Andrés Galiana, Engineering, Coordinator of Development and Communication at the ORT School of Engineering.

How can we generate energy from renewable sources to contribute to the sustainability of our planet? This activity aims to illustrate how energy is converted into electrical current by pedaling a bicycle.

DNA, Your Best Witness – March 25 – 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Workshop Area 4

A role-playing game in which participants must find clues at a crime scene and analyze them using biotechnology tools to determine who is responsible. Working in groups of 6 to 8 people, participants will have 15 to 20 minutes to identify the killer.
