Martín W ozniak's first short film , *Australia*, was made in 2004 as part of the Production Workshop 3 (Documentary) course taught by Professor Cristian Pauls.
"Australia" won second prize at the Unifest Festival, was a finalist in France at the George Méliès Festival, and received an honorable mention in our country at the 24th Uruguay International Film Festival. It will be screened at the Film Schools Festival to be held in November in Buenos Aires (Martín was invited to participate, along with Pablo Martínez). “And it will be screened at the Cortópolis Festival in Córdoba, Argentina, to which I was invited by Uruguay.”
In 2005, he completed his final college project, a documentary titled *Borneo*. In September 2005, after winning the ORT 16 contest organized by Kodak in partnership with Universidad ORT Uruguay, Martín was able to film his third audiovisual project, *Sumatra*.
Borneo had its public premiere at the Cinemateca Film Festival. “Every year they screen a different short film; one year it was Australia, another year it was Borneo, and next year it will be Sumatra, ”Martín said.
His audiovisual works have been shown around the world.
"I submitted*Borneo* to a film festival in Buenos Aires; it screened in Rosario, Spain, and Cuba, where *Australia* was the only Uruguayan short film in competition. *Sumatra* is currently at a film festival in Romania. I’ve submitted them everywhere."
Wozniak’s signature style is evident in his short films. “People have told me that the three shorts I made have a very distinct aesthetic; that they’re similar, that there’s a consistent style, and that’s a good thing. People generally like how I use music with the visuals.”
Martín cultivates a critical eye and applies it to his work; “I’m satisfied with my work, but you always want to improve it—I look at it and always find something.”
Putting short films aside for a moment, in 2006 he directed a music video titled *La hermosa langosta aplastada en la vereda* for the Uruguayan rock band Buenos Muchachos.
He also served as cinematographer and camera operator for the documentary *Semillitas*, directed by Pablo Martínez Pessi, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Communication. Martín currently works as an audiovisual technical assistant at Universidad ORT Uruguay. His dream is to make a living as an audiovisual producer; “I hope that someday I’ll be able to say that my profession is being a producer.”
Martín Wozniak, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication, was invited to participate in the 5th Berlinale Talent Campus, to be held in Berlin, Germany, from February 10 to 15, 2007. Wozniak was one of those selected by the festival organizers from among more than 3,500 applicants from around the world. In addition, the short film Sumatra was selected to participate in the La Pedrera Short Film Festival, which took place from January 5 to 7, 2007.
