Among other topics, Hofman discussed the post-pandemic economic recovery, the revival of tourism, and the performance of the economy in the second half of 2021.
The graduate stated that we are entering a new cycle in the global economy. In the case of Uruguay, it will take more than two years to return to pre-crisis economic levels.
In Hofman's view, the annual projections and policies formulated by the executive branch will not be altered by the figures from the first quarter of this year.
He also stated that there are signs that the Uruguayan economy will return to growth in the second half of 2021, provided that mobility continues to increase and new strains of the coronavirus do not necessitate a return to previous restrictions. In that regard, he emphasized that tourism is a key factor to consider for economic expansion.
The recovery of employment will be gradual. For Hofman, this is the main challenge facing the country.
