The activities were carried out in coordination with the Restoration Institute and took place at the institute’s headquarters and at the Jockey Club building.
In the lead-up to Heritage Day, graduates and students, under the supervision of faculty members, carried out the necessary work to ensure the safety of the buildings and make them accessible to the public on the day of the national event.
In addition, an exhibition featuring the work of architect John Adams and a display of graphic works from architect Carre’s project were set up in the Jockey Club building.
Heritage Day
During Heritage Day, professors from Universidad ORT Uruguay— Emilio Ferrari, Jorge Lezica, and Julio Pérez —led guided tours at the Institute of Restoration’s headquarters.
In addition, the following activities took place at the Jockey Club:
- Lecture byRoberto Langwagen, a professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay , on Art Deco furnishings.
- Lecture by Architect Juana Atella on the work of Architect John Adams and the proposal to reconstruct the façade of the Sala Verdi.
- Lecture by Julio Pérez, an Universidad ORT Uruguay professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay , on the methodology for investigating structural defects, as applied to the building of the Institute of Restoration.
- Guided tours of the Jockey Club lobby and front rooms led by students and graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programs in Interior Design and Architecture.
