Sustainability and Technology

Pastosur offers sustainable turf made from agricultural waste—a solution that combines the aesthetic appeal of natural grass with the low-maintenance benefits of synthetic turf, without the negative environmental impacts.

The product is biodegradable, allowing it to break down naturally at the end of its useful life, thereby contributing to the circular economy and reducing waste. This initiative not only improves quality of life by providing low-maintenance green spaces, but also promotes mental well-being and a connection with nature.

Its creators, Iván Sant Ana and Sofía Montero—students at Idea Vilariño High School No. 63—received an 80% scholarship.

Circularity and environmental responsibility

Sofía Alonso and Julieta García—students at San Pablo High School—received an honorable mention and a 50% scholarship.

The value proposition of Dafne is to offer biodegradable coffins and urns made from mycelium and hemp fiber, which decompose naturally, reducing the environmental footprint of traditional burials.

These products not only minimize their environmental impact but also enhance soil biodiversity and are more affordable. Furthermore, they allow for a more meaningful farewell that aligns with ecological and sustainable values.

The name, Dafne, is inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Apollo and Daphne, in which she transforms into a tree to escape Apollo. This name reflects the company’s connection to nature, symbolizing transformation and a return to the earth through products that decompose and become part of the ecosystem, promoting circularity and respect for the environment.
