ORT graduate's project wins award from the National Music Fund

July 30, 2004
Analía Fontán, a graduate of the Sound Design Technician program and currently the program’s assistant coordinator, received an award for her project “Montevideo Soundscape.”

Ms. Fontán's project, "Montevideo Soundscape," was carried out in collaboration with the Uruguay Soundscape Group.

Ms. Fontán began developing this initiative while she was in her second semester of the Sound Engineering program, inspired by the activities proposed by her professors.

"Montevideo Soundscape" was submitted to the first call for proposals of 2004 by the National Music Fund and has been awarded one of the grants provided by the fund to promote and develop national musical activity in all its forms, both within and beyond the country's borders.

The project aims to document and record musical performances on the streets of Montevideo, focusing on the performers—soloists or groups from diverse cultural backgrounds who travel the streets daily on foot or by bus—whose activities shape and transform the city’s soundscape.
