Graduates' research project won first prize in the Agtech Challenge

The research project by Systems Engineering graduates Christian Eichin and Ignacio Lorenzo, titled Firedet, won first prize in the Agtech Challenge and received a grant of $600,000 (pesos). The project, titled “Monitoring for Forest Production,” focuses on detecting potential forest fires using drones.

Agtech is a competition organized by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, the National Development Agency (ANDE), and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII). Its goal is to promote innovation in our country’s agricultural sector.

The awards ceremony took place on Friday, July 30, 2021, in the auditorium of the annex building of the Office of the President of the Republic. In attendance were the Secretary of the Presidency, Dr. Álvaro Delgado; the Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Agr. Eng. Fernando Mattos; and the president of ANDE, Mag. Carmen Sánchez.
