The project “Coinmovilization of therapeutic enzymes in nanoparticles for remote activation” by Dr. Lorena Betancor, professor of Protein Technology, was approved for funding by the María Viñas Fund of the National Agency for Research and Innovation.

The proposal builds on the research project she is leading in collaboration with Dr. Valeria Grazú of the Aragón Institute of Materials Science.

The research team at Universidad ORT Uruguay also include Dr. Cecilia Ortiz, associate professor in the Department of Protein Technology; Lucía Patrón, a biotechnology engineer; and Mathías Costa, a biotechnology engineer; all of whom are master’s students in the PEDECIBA Chemistry Program.

The project funds two years of research and includes a three-year doctoral fellowship.
