The project "Mathematics Based on Functional Programming Languages," submitted by the Theoretical Computing Group (CompuTe) of the School of Engineering to the "Acortando Distancias" program of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), was selected for funding on December 20, 2013.

The "Acortando Distancias" program offers support for one-month internships for secondary school teachers in university research groups or laboratories. The teachers gain initial research experience.

Within this framework, secondary school teachers Ana Laura Machado, from Florida, and Diego Martorell, from Montevideo, were selected as interns and will begin their work on February 3, 2014, at the School of Engineering.
