Recreation 17: Graphic Design

February 24, 2017
Redefined brand identities, fresh visual concepts, innovative packaging, and new ways of presenting products were on display in the final projects submitted by the graphic design students.

Natalie Hazan, for Savia

Natalie Hazan, a student in the Bachelor of Graphic Design program, created campaigns for the Savia brand, founded by Helena Betolaza and Paula Vignolo—senior students in the Bachelor of Fashion Design program—which quickly established a strong foothold in the apparel market.

Hazan created graphics for the Savia Adults and Savia Kids lines. “For both, I drew inspiration from the brand’s philosophy, building on its core concepts.” She listed: “cruelty-free, sustainable development, organic products.”

For the adult line, he drew inspiration “from man himself, from the sap, as if from a fluid journey, a fluid movement.”

“Luxury and sustainability are the main themes you’ll see in my pieces.”

Mercedes Saiz, for La Huella

Mercedes Saiz completed her capstone project in collaboration with La Huella, a beach resort located on Playa Brava in José Ignacio.

“My goals were to improve the company’s communication, enhance the existing graphic materials, and create new items that could serve as souvenirs for those who wanted to take them home as mementos.”

To create the graphic, he focused “on the most important aspect of the resort”: its location. “It’s right in the middle of the beach, surrounded by mar. I decided to set aside the footprint motif—which was what they had been using—to make room for the mar footprint, and thus work with textures, rhythms, variations, and colors to better capture the spirit of the place.”

Mauro Castellanos, for Sneaker Freaker

Mauro Castellanos created designs for the men’s clothing store Sneaker Freaker. “Basically, what they do is import brands from the United States—all of which fall under what they call streetwear, casual, urban styles, closely tied to the world of skateboarding,” he said.

“Since they have a sort of screen-printing workshop where they make other types of clothing, the idea was to create an in-house sub-brand through which they could begin producing a line of products available exclusively for sale.”

Hello, for Agustín Mañana

“I wanted to choose something I liked,” the student said of his decision to work at Moshi Moshi, a Japanese restaurant located in Pocitos. “I was drawn to Asian cuisine, specifically Japanese food. It’s home-style cooking—nothing too fancy.”

The designer worked on the venue's entire visual identity and explained that Moshi Moshi is currently undergoing a refresh, and he is handling the graphic design.
