Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 2023 / 5784

The holidays of Rosh Hashanah (literally, "Head of the Year") and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) make up what is known as the Yamim Noraim (High Holy Days).

These are days of repentance and self-reflection, of taking stock of our deeds and actions, and of offering special prayers.

It begins on the first day of the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar (Tishrei), which Jewish tradition considers to be the day of the creation of the universe. This year, the start of the Jewish New Year 5784 will be celebrated beginning on September 15, at sunset, and will last for 48 hours. On Friday, September 15, the university will close at 4:00 p.m. and reopen on Monday, September 18.

On Monday, September 25, Universidad ORT Uruguay closed in observance of Yom Kippur and will reopen on Tuesday, September 26.
