Science at the Bar, a project that promotes a science-based entrepreneurial culture

The goal is to inspire and connect people through dialogue among entrepreneurs, business leaders, scientists, and others interested in addressing challenges in the fields of the environment, health, and agribusiness.

The CIE BIO Biotechnology Incubator, sponsored by the Center for Biotechnology Research and Innovation (CBI+I), the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Universidad ORT Uruguay the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC), is organizing the event “Science at the Bar,” a series of three meetings aimed at promoting the emergence of biotechnology startups.

The first event, titled "The Role of Biotechnology in Times of a Pandemic," will take place on May 26, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., online, due to health recommendations related to COVID-19. The upcoming events, all of which are free of charge, are scheduled for July and September of this year.

Participants will hear inspiring talks from entrepreneurs and business leaders in the biotechnology sector, which will highlight impactful solutions that leverage knowledge to address challenges in industries critical to the country’s economy. In addition, they will take part in group activities designed to facilitate discussion and encourage both individual and collective reflection, fostering the formation of diverse entrepreneurial teams.

The program is carried out in partnership with Ingenio, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), and the Khem Incubator. has also has from the LISTO project (Latin American and European Cooperation on Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), as part of the National Development Agency’s (ANDE) Support for Activities to Foster a Culture of Entrepreneurship.
