During the 2012 Student Conference of the School of Engineering, demonstrations of Scratch with Kinect were held.
Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/) is a programming language developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that makes it easy to create programs, games, and animations.
Kinect is a device that allows you to interact with a computer without physical contact by recognizing body movements. Using software developed by Prof. Stephen Howell (http://scratch.saorog.com/), it is possible to interact with Kinect by programming in Scratch.
The students were able to try out the various games available and explore the features of Scratch-Kinect programming.
The demonstrations were led by the teaching assistants from the ORT-Ceibal Forum—Melissa Caraballo, Emiliano Zapata, and Alvaro Ingold—and by the teaching assistants from the Programming Department—Diego Galico and Kevin Natanzon.
