Students' final projects were selected by the Center for Engineering Innovation

On December 29, 2017, as part of the sixth call for proposals by the Center for Engineering Innovation (CII), two senior projects were selected for the completion of bachelor’s thesesin Biotechnology Engineering andTelecommunications Engineering in collaboration with companies.

“Recombinant expression of Bm86 and subolesin as candidates for the development of a vaccine against native tick species,” developed by Martina Pánfilo, a biotechnology engineering student, under the supervision of Carlos Sanguinetti, M.Sc., academic coordinator of Biotechnology, and Sebastián Rodríguez as co-supervisor. The project is being carried out in partnership with the company La Buena Estrella.

“RITI - Intelligent IP Telephony Network,” developed by Gastón Pouquette and Juan José Behrend, both telecommunications engineering students, under the guidance of Prof. Felipe Rivera, a faculty member in the Department of Networks. This project, in partnership with the company Sarea, aims to address the problem of high telephone call costs incurred by companies in Uruguay and around the world.

The CII aims to develop a collaborative platform focused on promoting and advancing research, development, and innovation activities related to the productive sector.
