Teaching and Innovation Under the Ceibal Plan

“In most cases, the technologies provided by the Ceibal Plan were seen as a barrier to their use among colleagues and with students,” states the article “Innovative Practices Among Teachers in the Context of the Ceibal Plan: A Multiple Case Study in Uruguay.”

This paper presents the results of a multiple-case study that analyzed the innovative practices of Uruguayan teachers following the implementation of the Ceibal Plan.

According to the authors, this study “reveals an underutilization of technologies that are widely available throughout the country, primarily because institutions appear to prioritize traditional, in-person methods of work.”

It was conducted by Dr. Mariela Questa-Torterolo—a faculty member of the Master’s Program in Educational Management and the Master’s Program in Trainer Education at the Institute of Education—in collaboration with Dr. David Rodríguez-Gómez—a visiting professor at the Institute of Education and a faculty member at the Autonomous University of Barcelona—and Dr. Julio Meneses—a faculty member and researcher at the Open University of Catalonia.

“Innovative Practices Among Teachers in the Context of the Ceibal Plan: A Multiple Case Study in Uruguay” was a paper presented at the 19th International Congress on Educational Research, held in Madrid in June 2019.
