The event took place on July 8, 2021, at the Adela Reta National Auditorium, in the Eduardo Fabini Hall.
On that occasion, Dr. Paganini, along with the other two GACH coordinators, received the Presidential Award from the President of the Republic, Dr. Luis Lacalle Pou, in recognition of his scientific and cultural work.
During the 14 months that GACH was active, beginning in April 2020, Dr. Paganini was one of the three coordinators who led the group, alongside Dr. Rafael Radi and Dr. Henry Cohen. In his case, he was in charge of the Modeling and Data Science Division.
For his part, Dr. Andrés Ferragut helped coordinate the area and served on the Mobility and Apps subgroup and the Models and Projections subgroup.
At the ceremony, the three GACH coordinators addressed the audience, expressing their gratitude for the honor of having been called upon to help manage the pandemic and the challenges it posed, and highlighting the collaboration and generosity of all the scientists in the group, as well as the importance of science for the country. Regarding the improving situation in Uruguay, they urged caution and advised people to continue taking precautions.
In his remarks, the president highlighted the value, respect, and scientific rigor of the advice received, and thanked the more than 50 professionals who served on the GACH for their dedication and contributions.
