“Latin America is a region that has made tremendous efforts, and where governments have invested a significant portion of their already limited resources in education. However, there has been no significant improvement in graduation rates,” said Dr. Flavia Terigi, who currently serves as dean of the Institute for Human Development at the National University of General Sarmiento.
Why do you believe that secondary school is where the "region’s biggest problem" lies? What are the reasons behind this? What changes could be implemented? At the regional level, how would you describe the transition from primary to secondary school? What factors contribute to student dropout and grade repetition? What challenges does education face, particularly in rural areas?
Those were some of the questions Terigi addressed in the following interview:
In July 2019, Flavia Terigi visited Universidad ORT Uruguay in Universidad ORT Uruguay teach the course “New Agendas for Teaching,” which is part of the third semester of the Master’s in Education program and an elective course in the Master’s in Teacher Training program.
