The Coordinator's work won second prize from the Revista Médica del Uruguay – Roemmers Laboratory

The paper "Detection of Human Papillomavirus Types 16, 18, 31, and 33 in Severe Dysplasia and Cervical Carcinoma In Situ" by Mag. Carlos Sanguinetti, Academic Coordinator of Biotechnology, co-authored with Dr. Guillermo Rodríguez, Dr. Isabel Fernández, Dr. Enrique Barrios, Dr. Rafael Alonso, Dr. Noemí Maedo, and Dr. Juan Vasallo, won second prize in the 2009 Revista Médica del Uruguay – Roemmers Laboratory “Dr. Luis Folle” Award.

The resolution notes that, although this is an observational study with a small number of patients, it is a significant contribution to the implementation of new strategies for the prevention of cervical cancer in Uruguay.
