The European Union has selected the Jean Monnet Module proposal “Thinking Europe” submitted by ORT

In August 2022, the proposal for the Jean Monnet Module “Thinking Europe,” submitted by Universidad ORT Uruguay the latest call for proposals under the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program, was approved. The project was selected for co-funding from among 640 module proposals.

The project was presented by Dr. (cand.) Virginia Delisante, associate coordinator of International Studies at the School of Management and Social Sciences, and Dr. Laura Diaz Arnesto, the university’s coordinator of Academic Projects.

The ORT Jean Monnet Module will be housed within the Department of International Studies at the School of Management and Social Sciences, under the coordination of Delisante. Activities are scheduled to begin in December 2022.

This is a three-year project that, through courses, talks, webinars, workshops, research articles, and conferences, aims to advance European Union studies in Uruguay; engage with relevant civil society organizations and reach the general public at the local level; and foster international networking and collaboration on European studies in Latin America and beyond.

In particular, the project includes the courses "Western and Eastern Europe: United, Divided, or Diverse?" and "Global Europe: Evolution and Relations with Key Global Blocs" as electives in the Bachelor's Degree in International Studies.

In addition, other activities are planned to promote international networking and collaboration in European studies. These activities will involve ORT faculty members and prominent international scholars.
