On December 26, 2022, the School of Engineering received from the ad hoc Commission for ARCU-SUR Accreditation Commission the resolution granting accreditation to the Systems Engineering program.
This is the first accreditation awarded to the Systems Engineering program, after it voluntarily applied during the first call for applications for this program.
The process included the submission of a program self-evaluation report, a site visit by a peer review committee in October, and the Commission’s final report.
In addition to the recognition that accreditation brings, the faculty values participating in these processes, which provide an opportunity for analysis, reflection, and improvement of academic quality.
We are very happy and proud of this accreditation, which reflects the efforts and hard work of the entire Systems Engineering team and the School of Engineering since the program’s inception.
Eduardo Mangarelli, Engineer.
According to Vice Dean Nora Szasz, "ARCU-SUR accreditation is a guarantee of the program's quality and compliance with the standards established for the region. It covers various aspects, including the design and implementation of the academic program, the institutional context, infrastructure, and the various stakeholders: students, faculty, graduates, and support staff."
"We are proud to have received it with the highest ratings from our peer reviewers. But beyond that achievement, I want to emphasize the value of the experience of having gone through the rigorous self-assessment process, which was carried out with the collaboration of all the teams in the School of Engineering and the university."
"This is a credit to everyone, so I would like to thank those who participated in the process, and especially our students and graduates, who have entrusted their education to Universidad ORT Uruguay as the academic team of professors and researchers at our school," he emphasized.
With this new accreditation, there are now three programs in the School of Engineering accredited by ARCU-SUR, joining the Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering programs, which have been accredited for the third time.
ARCU-SUR is a regional accreditation system for university degree programs, designed to ensure and promote the quality of undergraduate programs offered by institutions of higher education.
