The university welcomed international students

On March 8, 2017, 27 international students were welcomed to Universidad ORT Uruguay. The reception took place in the Auditorium of the School of Business and Social Sciences and was organized by the International Office.

Another 17 international students who were already participating in the exchange program will continue taking courses at the university. Of the 44 students who chose the university for their exchange, 24 will attend classes in the School of Management and Social Sciences, sharing classrooms with the school’s other students.

Students come from all over the world, including Chile, Spain, the United States, France, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

In addition, there are 14 students from Harbin Normal University in China, as part of a joint program with Universidad ORT Uruguay which students from Harbin’s Bachelor’s program in Spanish will spend a year in the country taking courses at the university.

Members of the mentor committee also took part in the welcome event; they support and advise students who are interested, and organize extracurricular activities such as meals out, parties, and trips.

Also in attendance were members of the Colibrí Project, a volunteer program in which international students organize recreational activities for children in the Marconi neighborhood. The goal is for the students to learn about a different side of Uruguay and, in turn, give the children a glimpse of what life is like in other countries.
