La Casa Uruguaya awarded the National Energy Efficiency Award in the Buildings category

La Casa Uruguaya, designed by students and faculty from all of the university’s schools, was recognized on November 30, 2016, in the “Buildings” category of the National Energy Efficiency Award, organized annually by the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining. The purpose of this award is to recognize projects nationwide that make efficient use of energy.

La Casa Uruguaya a self-sustaining housing project created by students, graduates, and faculty members of the university with the support of private companies and organizations in the sector.

This latest recognition for La Casa Uruguaya the one received in late 2015, when it won the 2015 Solar Decathlon Latin America and the Caribbean international competition in Colombia.

Present at the awards ceremony were the dean of the School of Architecture, Architect Gastón Boero; the coordinator of the La Casa Uruguaya project, Architect Andrés Eliseo Cabrera; and faculty members and decathletes who participated in the project.

Also recognized at the awards ceremony were Carrasco International Airport in the “Commercial and Services” category, the Lanas Blengio Wool Mill in “Industry,” Antel in “Public Sector,” Rural School No. 144 “Estación Pedrera” in “Education—Rural Schools,” and School No. 114 “Carlos Von Metzen Vincenti” in “Education—Urban Schools.”
