La Casa Uruguaya the Energy Globe Award in the national category for Uruguay. The award is presented annually to sustainable projects or awareness campaigns focused on sustainability.
The Energy Globe is currently the world's most renowned sustainability award. In 2020, it received submissions from more than 180 countries, which entered buildings and initiatives completed in 2019, all dedicated to environmental protection and conservation.
La Casa Uruguaya a self-sustaining housing project developed by students, graduates, and faculty members of Universidad ORT Uruguay. The project proposes a home that encourages responsible consumption habits and promotes energy efficiency.
The goal was to build a home equipped with the innovation and technology needed to be self-sufficient, thereby improving the quality of life in the most challenging communities.
The Energy Globe Award is organized by the independent Energy Globe Foundation in Austria.
