“Ever since I enrolled in the master’s program, I thought it was a very appealing opportunity to take a course in Spain—both for the experience of studying in another country and for the quality of Pompeu Fabra University, a highly regarded institution,” he said. The trip also gave him the chance to visit Italy, England, and France, since the class schedules and days were arranged to allow for free time to explore other countries.
Since October 2022, Gonzalo Febles has been working as a content and social media assistant at Universidad ORT Uruguay. His responsibilities include creating content for various platforms, managing social media, producing videos, posting organic content, and covering events. “If all goes well,” he will graduate with a Master’s degree in Communication and Marketing Management in April 2025.

Why did you decide to pursue the master's degree?
I wanted to expand my knowledge in the field of communication, as I felt the need to take it to the next level, and it seemed like the right time to do so—to gain a more comprehensive education and learn from my classmates’ experiences.
What challenges do you face on a daily basis?
It’s a challenge to balance personal and professional life with school, but thanks to the way the master’s program is structured, it’s possible to do so. It’s an intensive program that takes time and requires your full commitment, but it’s worth it. Plus, the option to take classes through the Hyflex platform offers an extra safety net so you don’t miss any classes if something unexpected comes up.
What tools or concepts are you learning at ORT that are useful for your day-to-day work?
I believe that many of the concepts covered in the master’s program are applicable to day-to-day work, but I find soft skills to be particularly important : the ability to adapt to new situations, teamwork, analytical thinking, and the importance of communication in any setting are key to achieving success.

"This trip was 'an excellent experience,'" said Febles, who highlighted "the interaction with my fellow group members." In addition, they had the opportunity to take classes with professionals working at leading companies in Spain, such as:
- Eric Mottard: Group Eventoplus
- Ferran Pastor: Public Relations Manager at FC Barcelona
- Joan Códol: General Manager of Projects and Events at Grupo Focus
- Gisela Enseñat: Office of External Relations and Protocol of the Presidency of the Government of Catalonia
- Joaquim Romañach: Director of Institutional Events and Protocol for the Barcelona City Council
- Anna Sanchez: Daring
I met people from various countries and gained a deep understanding of how communication works in different fields, as well as the importance of protocol and how it plays a key role—something we often don’t realize. If you have the chance, I highly recommend it.
