Universidad ORT Uruguay the only Uruguayan institution to appear in the Times Higher Education 2021 Latin American University Rankings

ORT ranked between 101st and 125th, and among the universities in that range, it received the highest score in the International Outlook category, with 81 points out of a possible 100.

Times Higher Education is a British publication that covers news and topics related to higher education. Its rankings, considered among the largest and most comprehensive in the world, are audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers; they serve as a benchmark for students, faculty, governments, and industry experts.

This time, the prestigious ranking is led by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, followed by the University of São Paulo and the State University of Campinas, both in Brazil.

This renowned ranking evaluates several factors. First and foremost, to be included, an institution must have a significant volume of research that has been published internationally. The primary factor evaluated is the number of published research articles and their citations; it also takes into account teaching data, the opinions of selected academics, internationalization, and knowledge transfer to industry.
