SAP is the global market leader in enterprise application software and works with companies of all sizes and across all industries to help them operate at their best. 77% of the world’s transaction revenue passes through an SAP system.

The SAP University Alliances program enables students at Universidad ORT Uruguay their knowledge of the latest technologies in the business world. The program incorporates SAP solutions into the university’s curriculum and integrates innovation into teaching.

The business world has changed, and labor markets are undergoing large-scale transformations and facing new demands for skills and knowledge. A systemic and integrated approach based on global best practices is needed to drive business growth in the country.

Dr. Ricardo Kaufmann, Academic Secretary of the School of Management and International Studies, Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences.

The online event, which took place on Monday, November 23, 2020, also featured presentations by Mag. María José Compte—Business Development Manager, SAP Latin America South Region at SAP—, Fernando Armendaris—VP Head Uruguay SAP—, María Cecilia Calzada de Neumann—SAP University Alliances Regional Manager, Latin America & Caribbean, Spain & Portugal at SAP SE—and Cecilia Jorge, MBA—assistant academic coordinator of the Public Accounting program at the School of Administration and Social Sciences—also spoke.

“SAP University Alliances allows you to become part of an international community of more than 3,500 institutions, offering numerous events and opportunities for interaction and networking worldwide. It also helps improve graduates’ employability by facilitating their integration into the local job market ecosystem,” said Compte.

By using SAP, students can participate in co-innovation projects. “There is no set structure for the projects. Some projects may last a month, while others last several weeks or an academic semester. Some projects involve two students, while others are carried out by groups of five as part of a course, under the guidance of the instructor,” said María Cecilia Calzada de Neumann.

SAP was founded in 1972 in Walldorf, Germany, and today has global network of customers, partners, employees, and thought leaders. In addition, this tool enables the integration of state-of-the-art training platforms.

“We are thinking about our students’ future. We are convinced that this partnership will be successful and that the market will recognize it,” Kaufmann said.

“This tool has enormous potential for use in a wide range of subjects,” said Cecilia Jorge. “The SAP University Alliances program helps students understand how a company’s procurement of materials impacts production, cash flow, and sales, and how the sales and distribution process affects procurement and marketing. The program enables students to view the company as a whole.”
