The British consulting firm QS Quacquarelli Symonds publishes the annual QS World University Rankings, a global ranking of universities that covers thousands of institutions around the world.
In this edition, only two Uruguayan universities were ranked among the world’s top 500, and the highest-ranked was the Universidad ORT Uruguay.
ORT ranks first in our country, at number 462, and the University of Montevideo ranks second, at number 492.
Universidad ORT Uruguay the first private university in our country to be accredited under the current legal framework in 1996. It has more than 10,000 students enrolled in graduate programs, undergraduate programs, short-term programs, and continuing education courses. It offers the only Doctorate in Education in the country.
Among Latin American universities, the highest-ranked institutions are the University of Buenos Aires (66th) and Mexico’s UNAM (100th).
According to the ranking, the best university in the world is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, followed by Stanford University and Harvard University.
