Universidad ORT Uruguay Its Ranking in THE Latin America University Rankings 2026

The latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) Latin America University Rankings places Universidad ORT Uruguay the 126–150 range in Latin America, an improvement over the 151+ category in which it was ranked in the previous edition.

THE Latin America University Rankings 2026

Since 2020, Universidad ORT Uruguay consistently Universidad ORT Uruguay THE’sLatin America University Rankings, establishing a sustained presence in this regional ranking. In the 2026 edition, the list includes 223 universities from 16 countries or territories in Latin America.  

In the case of Uruguay, two institutions appear in the Latin American ranking for the first time, withUniversidad ORT Uruguay ranked in the 126–150 range.  

Methodological changes 

THE has introduced methodological changes in this edition. The Latin America University Rankings 2026 are now based directly on data from the World University Rankings 2026 and use the same set of performance indicators, with specific adjustments to reflect the characteristics of the region.  

This means that the results are not strictly comparable with those of previous years, a point that THE itself recommends taking into account when analyzing changes in ranking.  

Teaching and Quality of Instruction Indicator 

In the 2026 results, Universidad ORT Uruguay its strongest relative performance in the "Teaching" pillar, one of the core components of THE’s methodology, which takes into account the learning environment, available resources, faculty commitment, and the student experience.  

According to the “Best Universities in South America 2026” table, which is based on data from the Latin America University Rankings, ORT is ranked among the South American institutions in the 126–150 range. 

This emphasis on teaching is linked to the ongoing work Universidad ORT Uruguay through the Center for Professional Development in Higher Education (CAES), a unit within the Institute of Education whose mission is to support the continuous improvement of teaching quality through pedagogical guidance and ongoing professional development for faculty members.  

Among CAES’s recent initiatives, the first edition of the 2025 Winter School, “Higher Education and Technology: The Strategic Role of Artificial Intelligence in Learning,” stands out. This training program is designed for faculty members at Universidad ORT Uruguay reflect on and experiment with the pedagogical use of artificial intelligence in higher education.  

Other THE rankings 

Universidad ORT Uruguay performance Universidad ORT Uruguay the 2026 Latin America University Rankings is complemented by its inclusion in other Times Higher Education rankings.  

In the2025 THE Impact Rankings —which assess universities’ contributions to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—ORT is the only Uruguayan university included and ranks in the 601–800 range globally.  

In addition, Universidad ORT Uruguay as a “Reporter” institution in THE’s 2026 World University Rankings, a category that identifies universities that provide data and are included in the evaluated pool, even though they do not receive a numerical ranking in the global table.  

The combination of these results—a consistent presence in the Latin American rankings, national leadership in the Impact Rankings, and inclusion in the World University Rankings—reinforces Universidad ORT Uruguay standing Universidad ORT Uruguay international indicators of quality, teaching, and contribution to sustainable development, in line with its institutional policies of continuous improvement in education and strengthening of the university’s mission.
