Dr. Denise Vaillant, dean of the Institute of Education, was selected to serve on the Advisory Committee for the Teacher Training in Distance and Hybrid Learning Project, in recognition of her expertise, track record, and experience in the field of education.

This is an initiative of the Education Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and UNESCO/OREALC (Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean), which aims to leverage the changes in education systems—brought about by COVID-19—to strengthen the teaching skills of educators in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In addition, the project aims, on the one hand, to develop a framework of standards for evaluating teacher professional development programs focused on remote and hybrid learning. On the other hand, it aims to identify best practices for teacher professional development in the context of remote and hybrid learning.

The Advisory Committee is composed of several experts, as well as representatives from the IDB’s Education Division and UNESCO/OREALC.
