ORT’s Associate Dean for Research Named Among the Top 2% of Most Influential Researchers Worldwide

Dr. Fernando Paganini, associate dean for research at the School of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay, is among the most influential researchers internationally, according to a study published in the academic journal PLOS Biology.

The article "Data for updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators," authored by Dr. John Ioannidis of Stanford University, along with Jeroen Baas and Kevin Boyack, was published in the academic journal PLOS Biology, ranks Dr. Fernando Paganini among the most influential researchers in his field.

In turn, the ORT scholar was recognized as one of the 13 Uruguayan researchers with the greatest impact in the scientific community.

The study ranks more than 150,000 scientists worldwide based on the impact of their academic output. It is based on a calculation derived from published articles and their citations in Scopus, a bibliographic database of abstracts and citations from scientific journal articles.

In this regard, between 1993 and 2019, Dr. Paganini published a total of 115 scientific articles, which have been cited 3,045 times.

In addition to his role as associate dean of research and professor of Telecommunications Theory at the School of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay, Paganini is a Level III researcher in the Engineering and Technology area, specifically in the subfields of Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Information Engineering, within the National System of Researchers (SNI). He is a Grade 5 researcher in the Mathematics Area of Pedeciba. Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (United States). Member of the Honorary Scientific Advisory Group (GACH) of the Office of the President of the Republic. PhD in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (United States).
