
As part of the European Union’s Erasmus+ KA107 teacher mobility program, Dr. Débora Rottenberg participated in various academic activities from November 28 to December 1.
Erasmus+ is the European Union program dedicated to promoting and supporting education, training, youth, and sports. The International Academic Mobility action line promotes, through bilateral projects, academic mobility activities between higher education institutions in European countries and the rest of the world, for students as well as academic and administrative staff.
This activity is part of the International Academic Mobility project being carried out jointly by Universidad ORT Uruguay Uppsala University.

During his visit, Rottenberg first presented the Swedish education system to members of the Institute of Education and outlined its key distinguishing features and challenges. Participants in the session included Dr. Andrea Tejera, academic coordinator of the Master’s in Educational Management and the Master’s in Teacher Training; Dr. Mariela Questa-Torterolo, associate academic coordinator of the Master’s in Educational Management and the Master’s in Teacher Training; Dr. María Azpiroz, director of International Relations at Universidad ORT Uruguay professor at the Institute of Education; and Yael Ferreira, web editor at the Institute of Education.
Dr. Rottenberg also held meetings with Dr. Denise Vaillant, dean of the Institute of Education, and Dr. Gabriel Díaz Maggioli, academic coordinator of the Specialization Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, to discuss the Swedish and Uruguayan education systems and explore potential projects related to foreign language teaching.
Together with Dr. María Azpiroz, Director of International Relations; Dr. Laura Díaz-Arnesto, Coordinator of Academic Projects; and Fiorella Giacomuzzi, Coordinator of Student Exchange at Universidad ORT Uruguay, they discussed issues related to international cooperation in education and language studies.
Dr. Rottenberg—who has experience in primary and secondary education for adults and is a researcher in literature and the Spanish language within the Swedish education system—also met with Andrés Bancalari, MBA, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies, and Mag. Virginia Delisante, associate coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies, to discuss the inclusion and implementation of language instruction in the program’s curriculum.
In addition, he attended a Spanish class for non-native speakers, which is offered to international exchange students at the university. He met with Hecsil Coello, M.A., a professor of Spanish for non-native speakers and instructor for the DELE (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language) training courses, and with Natalia Zambon, M.A., assistant coordinator of the Language Center at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Finally, Rottenberg participated as a guest researcher in the Research Design and Thesis Project Workshop for the Master’s in Education program at the Institute of Education, a course taught by Dr. Wellington Mazzotti, Dr. Claudia Cabrera Borges, and Mag. Adriana Careaga, under the general coordination of Dr. Denise Vaillant.
